Grammy nominated guitar player. Nashville-based Producer and Session Musician. Teacher. Touring Musician. Band Leader. Mentor. Played and shared the stage with Bob Dylan, Little Richard, Elvis Costello, Robert Plant, Shania Twain, Johnny Cash, Pam Tillis, Tracy Lawrence, Big and Rich, Patty Loveless, 3 Doors Down, Charlie Daniels, Reba McEntire and John Stowell just to name a few.
Darin started playing guitar professionally when he was 15 years old, and was mentored in Los Angeles by the late R. A. “Bumps” Blackwell (who played vibes for Billy Holiday and was instrumental in honing the talents of Quincy Jones, Ray Charles and Herb Albert). Studying with Bumps afforded Darin the tools, knowledge, and skills to work professionally at a very young age. Although Jazz and World music are his passion, Darin was shown the importance of melody and commercial sense that allows him to play with internationally recognized artists and musicians.
Darin’s touring career has consisted almost entirely of playing with international touring acts, and he has traveled all over the world, circling the globe numerous times. A highly skilled musician, Darin is both a gifted player, band leader, writer and musical coach. He is also a mentor for bandmates young and old. Artists who hire him, rely on his warm personality, professionalism and consistency as a player and person.
Effortlessly playing all genres as if each style were his primary one, he has played on Grammy nominated albums and an extensive list of established and budding artist projects. He also leads sessions, produces independent label projects, mentors industry colleagues, teaches private lessons for advanced guitar players, and is currently in the process of recording his solo project.
Growing up at the Grand ‘Ole Opry, Darin has music legendary in his lineage; his grandparents were Grand ‘Ole Opry stars, and his dad was an accomplished songwriter and publisher who wrote/co-wrote over 20 top-40 hits, for the likes of Johnny Cash and Ella Fitzgerald just to name a few.
Using his 35 plus years of professional experience, he also serves as a consultant to new and established artists, who have already achieved some of their goals, but want to expand to a broader market share, or cultivate strategies for brand enhancement. Darin is regarded by peers as one of Nashville’s top guitar players.
